A report by the Controller of Budget (CoB) Margaret Nyakang'o reveals that Nairobi County, under Governor Johnson Sakaja, is among ten counties that failed to allocate any funds toward development within this period.

Other counties in the same bracket include Kajiado, Baringo, Lamu, Uasin Gishu, and West Pokot.

In contrast, the report identified Narok and Kirinyaga as leading counties in development spending. Governor Patrick Ole Ntutu of Narok allocated Ksh.477 million to development projects, while Kirinyaga’s Governor Anne Waiguru spent Ksh.378 million.

Busia County, led by Governor Paul Otuoma, followed closely with Ksh.328 million directed toward development initiatives.

The report also brought attention to the unresolved issue of pending bills, urging counties to prioritize their payment as mandated by the Senate.

Nairobi County topped the list with a staggering Ksh.121 billion in pending bills. Garissa owes Ksh.6 billion, while Kiambu and Turkana have outstanding bills of Ksh.5.9 billion and Ksh.4.8 billion, respectively.
