The government has announced a new initiative through the Ministry of Labour to recruit talent for employment opportunities in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
This labor export program targets filling 500 nanny positions and 600 motorcycle (boda boda) rider roles in the Gulf region.
Labour Cabinet Secretary Dr. Alfred Mutua revealed that a Saudi Arabian human resource delegation is already in Kenya conducting interviews to hire nannies urgently.
A recruitment team from a UAE-based company is scheduled to arrive next week to interview and onboard boda boda riders.
The positions offer competitive salary packages, with motorcycle riders earning up to Ksh. 104,000 per month, while nannies are set to earn between Ksh. 41,000 and Ksh. 52,000 per month. However, applicants will need to cover the associated fees:
- Boda boda riders: Ksh. 167,900 includes HR service charges, airfare, medical expenses, and visa processing.
- Nannies: Ksh. 13,500 for medical fees.
This recruitment effort follows the government's brief suspension of large-scale job placements to address pending applications and streamline processes with recruitment agencies.
Dr. Mutua emphasized that the pause allowed for better alignment with job seekers' needs and agency requirements.
Kenya's renewed focus on labor export highlights its commitment to creating global employment opportunities while boosting the economy.
