Huldah Momanyi Hiltsley, a Kenya-born leader recently elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives, shared her thoughts on President William Ruto's leadership while attending Kenya's Jamhuri Day celebrations.
Speaking at Uhuru Gardens in Nairobi on Thursday, Momanyi was asked to evaluate President Ruto’s performance since he assumed office in September 2022.
“I’m not in the business of rating President Ruto,” she remarked, “but I can say he has a genuine heart for his people. He is striving to address their concerns, which is what citizens ultimately expect from their leader.”
Momanyi, who originally hails from Nyamira County, is a Kenyan-American trailblazer, making history with her recent electoral win in Minnesota.
During her first visit to Kenya after her groundbreaking achievement, Momanyi revealed her itinerary, which included a meeting with President Ruto.
“I plan to visit Nyamira to celebrate with my community, then return to Nairobi for some strategic economic discussions on Monday before heading back to the U.S. on Tuesday,” she shared.
The Jamhuri Day celebration this year marks Kenya’s 60th anniversary as a republic, commemorating its transition in December 1964.
