Renowned content creator Oga Obinna has officially brought on board former Citizen TV journalist Kimani Mbugua to join Obinna TV, with his role set to begin in January 2025.
In a recent interview where Obinna hosted Kimani, he explained that the decision to hire him was part of an effort to help the journalist return to the limelight after his long and public battle with bipolar disorder. Kimani will oversee the current affairs department at Obinna Studios and handle digital content streaming activities.
Obinna emphasized that his goal is to support Kimani’s comeback in the media industry by providing a fresh start, a new platform, and a stable source of income.

Kimani Mbugua was once a rising star in Kenyan journalism, having built an impressive career at Nation FM before moving to Royal Media Services. During his time there, he was a familiar face on Citizen TV, Inooro TV, and Hot 96. However, in 2020, Kimani stepped away from the spotlight and later opened up about his struggles with mental health.
After receiving treatment and recently being discharged from rehab, Kimani’s journey to recovery has been widely celebrated. In October, former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko shared encouraging news about Kimani's progress, with a heartwarming video of him singing Sauti Sol’s hit *Feel My Love*, beaming with positivity.
Kimani expressed gratitude to those who supported his recovery, and with his new role at Obinna TV, he now looks forward to rebuilding his career and inspiring others facing similar challenges.
