Cartoonist Gideon Kibet, known as Kibet Bull, has been reported missing alongside his brother, Rony Kiplangat.

The family disclosed that Kiplangat has been untraceable since Saturday, with Kibet disappearing on Tuesday evening.

According to their sister, Mercy Cherotich, the family initially assumed Kiplangat had gone to attend a church service at SDA Kikuyu. However, their concerns grew after repeated calls to his phone went unanswered. They sent a friend to check on Kiplangat at home, but he was not there.

Upon hearing of his brother’s disappearance, Kibet traveled from Njoro to Nairobi to investigate. Kibet, a student at Egerton University, was scheduled to attend a function with Senator Okiya Omtata in Nairobi on Tuesday. He left his belongings at a friend’s residence in Kikuyu before heading to the event.

After the event, Kibet boarded a vehicle back to Kikuyu but never arrived. His phone has been unreachable since Tuesday at 9 PM, leaving the family deeply concerned.

The family revealed that Kibet had been wary of staying in Nairobi, fearing possible repercussions for his satirical art, which often critiques President William Ruto and other political leaders. His work, widely shared on social media, includes silhouette depictions of prominent figures in Kenya’s government and judiciary.

The family reported Kiplangat’s disappearance to the authorities and was issued an Occurrence Book (OB) number. Kibet’s disappearance adds to the growing number of incidents involving social media users being abducted in recent times.

The family continues to appeal for assistance in locating Kibet and Kiplangat as they wait for updates from the police.
