President William Ruto has issued a strong warning to contractors handling national government projects, emphasizing that subpar performance will not be tolerated in the new year.
During an inspection of the multi-billion shilling cancer center in Kisii, the President expressed dissatisfaction with the project's slow progress.
The facility, valued at Ksh. 2.2 billion, broke ground in August 2024, and is slated for completion by February 2026. Once operational, it aims to alleviate the burden of cancer treatment for residents in the Lake Region.
President Ruto’s remarks come amid growing public concern over delays and neglect in implementing critical infrastructure projects.
“There’s no conflict or argument here; we simply need to deliver results. Contractors have been fully paid, and no outstanding certificates are pending. There is absolutely no excuse for these delays. This is the year of action and accountability,” he stated firmly.
