Police in Bondo Sub-County are investigating a tragic incident in Rabonde ‘A’ village, Ajigo Sub-location, where a 27-year-old man is believed to have been fatally attacked by dogs.
The victim, identified as Stephen Lilungo, was reportedly mauled to death and partially devoured by his employer’s dogs.
Lilungo, originally from Kakamega, had been employed as a home guard by Ken Were Miseda, a veterinary officer and hybrid dog breeder. In addition to guarding the property, Lilungo was responsible for caring for the dogs.
Bondo Sub-County Criminal Investigations Officer Reuben Onchoka revealed that police visited the scene after being alerted by Miseda’s neighbors. Upon arrival, officers discovered a skeleton suspected to be Lilungo’s remains.
The incident came to light when Miseda, who was away in Eldoret, sent a friend to check on Lilungo after being unable to contact him since Thursday. Upon arriving at the home, the friend found the dogs agitated and the home guard missing.
