Sixty students from Kalyet Secondary School in Kipkelion, Kericho County, were admitted to Londiani Hospital after showing symptoms of suspected food poisoning.
Dr. Collins Kipkoech, the hospital superintendent, reported that the students were rushed to the facility earlier in the morning after experiencing severe stomach pains, vomiting, and diarrhea.
The students reportedly consumed githeri, which was suspected to have been contaminated.
Dr. Kipkoech confirmed that most affected students have stabilized and will likely be discharged soon. However, some will remain under observation to ensure a full recovery.
The symptoms presented by the students strongly indicate a case of food poisoning, according to Dr. Kipkoech.
