President William Ruto has reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that former Prime Minister Raila Odinga is honored locally and internationally.
At the UDA-ODM framework agreement signing at KICC, Ruto emphasized the need for all political peers, juniors, and seniors to acknowledge Raila’s contributions to Kenya’s political landscape.
Reflecting on his past affiliation with ODM, Ruto credited Raila’s influence in shaping the country’s political sphere. He recalled a conversation after the elections, where he assured Raila that he deserved dignity and recognition for his decades-long service.
“I told him he was my party leader, and I want him to be treated with respect. This is not for personal gain, but because he is my senior, and his contributions must be appreciated,” Ruto stated.
Following signing the agreement, Ruto highlighted that the partnership was a step towards prioritizing national interests over political ambitions. He underscored the importance of unity and collaboration in propelling Kenya forward.

“This is not about power-sharing or electoral wins. It’s about focusing on what truly benefits Kenyans,” Ruto affirmed. “For too long, we’ve made politically convenient choices instead of those that would drive real progress.”
Ruto commended Raila’s decision to vie for the African Union Commission (AUC) chairmanship, recognizing his influence as a pan-African leader.
“I applaud Raila for his courage and dedication to serving Africa. His leadership has inspired many, and Kenyans strongly support his vision for continental progress,” Ruto noted.
