Authorities in Migori County have detained a woman accused of assaulting her husband by pouring hot water on him before attacking him with a panga.

The incident occurred on Saturday night around 9 p.m. in Kadar-Posi village, Uriri sub-county.

According to North Kanyamkago area chief Silvance Owiti, the victim, Evance Odhiambo, sustained severe burns and deep cuts after his wife, Emilly Otieno, allegedly scalded him and then struck him multiple times on the head and other parts of his body.

Neighbors quickly responded to the commotion and rushed Odhiambo to Migori Level Four Hospital, where he receives medical treatment. Meanwhile, the suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue.

While the exact motive behind the attack is still under investigation, preliminary reports suggest that the assault may have been triggered by suspicions that the victim was planning to take a second wife.
