Authorities in Ruiru, Kiambu County, have apprehended two individuals suspected of drug trafficking and confiscated 800 rolls of bhang in a targeted operation.

The suspects, identified as Tyson Mwai (30) and Samson Gathuki (21), were arrested in the Kimbo area following a coordinated sting led by officers from Mugutha Police Station and National Government Administration Officers (NGAO).

According to a statement from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on X, law enforcement officers also uncovered various quantities of bhang packaged in sachets. The haul included 13 polythene sachets, each containing 35 grams, five sachets weighing 130 grams, 44 sachets of 16 grams, and two digital weighing scales—pointing to a structured drug distribution network.

Mwai and Gathuki are currently in custody, awaiting their arraignment in court.

In a separate incident in Moyale, law enforcement officers on patrol intercepted a motorcycle, registration number KMGM 369D, that was transporting 100 kilograms of bhang.

Upon being flagged down, the rider abandoned the motorcycle and managed to escape. Upon inspection, officers discovered 20 bales of bhang packed inside sacks, weighing approximately 100kg.

The confiscated drugs and motorcycle are being held as exhibits while a manhunt is underway to track down the fleeing suspect.
