Five people, including a teacher, lost their lives on Monday during a violent protest over land demarcation in Ang'ata Barrikoi, Kilgoris, Narok County.

According to reports, the demonstration involving residents opposing the subdivision of a 6,000-acre parcel of land turned chaotic after police attempted to disperse the crowd. The confrontation quickly escalated, resulting in the tragic deaths and leaving seven others seriously injured. The injured individuals were rushed to Ang'ata Level III Hospital for treatment.

During the unrest, angry residents set fire to vehicles used by government officials who had arrived to oversee the land demarcation process.

Tensions remain high in the area as authorities work to restore calm.
