Authorities have apprehended two individuals believed to be involved in the assassination of Kasipul Member of Parliament, Charles Were.

The arrests were made during a Saturday night raid led by a specialized team from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters.

The high-stakes operation took place in Nairobi’s Eastlands area, where police also impounded a vehicle and three motorcycles suspected to have been used to shadow the legislator before his tragic death.

Despite these arrests, the firearm used in the killing has not yet been recovered.

MP Charles Were was fatally shot last Thursday near the Kenyatta Hospital roundabout on Ngong Road in Nairobi. Reports indicate he was hit by at least four bullets at close range, allegedly by a lone gunman who quickly fled the scene on a waiting sport bike.

Investigators have reviewed CCTV footage and interviewed key witnesses, including the MP’s driver and bodyguard, to trace the assassin. Sources close to the case suggest the murder was a calculated hit carried out by a professional killer.

At the crime scene, detectives discovered three bullet holes on the passenger side of the vehicle and visible blood stains on the console box—evidence pointing to a targeted and ruthless execution.

On the same day, investigators expanded their probe to the National Assembly, where the late MP had spent much of his Thursday attending parliamentary sessions. According to officials, he left Parliament shortly before 7:00 p.m., accompanied by his security detail.
