Nominated Senator Gloria Orwoba is set to appear before the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) disciplinary committee today, Friday, May 16, 2025, over claims of breaching the party’s Code of Conduct.

According to a statement released by the committee’s chairperson, Charles Njenga, the UDA has raised concerns about three specific incidents involving the senator.

These include her public appearance during the reception of former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and her attendance at his homecoming event at Gusii Stadium.

In addition, the party cited remarks made by Senator Orwoba during an April 22 interview on Spice FM, in which she criticized the government’s Labour Mobility Program—a flagship initiative under President William Ruto’s administration.

“The events you participated in, and the statements made therein, suggest a strong alignment with a different political faction. These actions reflect disloyalty and behavior contrary to the principles of the United Democratic Alliance Party, which nominated you to the Senate,” the statement read in part.

Senator Orwoba has been summoned to appear before the committee at 9:00 AM in the Fourth Floor Board Room of Hustler Plaza, where she is expected to defend her actions and explain why disciplinary measures should not be taken.

The committee further stated that should she be found culpable, its recommendations will be forwarded to the party’s National Executive Committee for appropriate action, which may include disciplinary sanctions.
