An early Sunday morning fire in Kapsowar Town damaged residences and commercial buildings, leaving behind property of undetermined value.
The fire started at two in the morning, according to resident and business owner Ednah Kimaiyo.
Bosita Omukologolo, the police commander for Marakwet West Sub County, stated that the cause of the fire has not yet been determined and that no injuries have been reported.
Further, he said that fire was unmanageable as most of the buildings were made of wood and iron sheets. Kenya Power disconnected electricity which prevented the fire from spreading further.
Residents have expressed the County Government’s preparedness for disaster as the County has no fire engine to help in case of fire outbreaks.
