Former Chief Justice David Maraga, the chairman of the National Police and Prisons Reforms Taskforce., has started having sessions at the Bomas of Kenya.

Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome provided the task group with its initial presentations for suggestions on improving the Kenya Prisons Service's and the National Police's other reforms, including the Terms and Conditions of Service.

At a task force meeting held at the Bomas of Kenya in Nairobi, the IG discussed the challenges that police personnel have in performing their jobs, which prevents the provision of effective and efficient public services.

He advised the Taskforce team to travel the country to gather further input and perspectives from NPS members.

After providing his opinions to the committee headed by Justice David Maraga, IG Japheth Koome spoke to the media.

The former Chief Justice examined the terms and conditions of service, offered suggestions for enhancements, and outlined the National Taskforce's goals. Finding the obstacles to the successful delivery of services by NPS and Prisons Services is one of the objectives of the National Taskforce.

The IG also granted the party a tour as police officers from various NPS Units NPS exhibited their tools and equipment of operation.

President William Ruto nominated the former chief justice to lead the task force for police wellbeing.

Twenty other people are in the group, and Carol Kariuki will fill in for Maraga.

The panellists are Terry Chebet Maina, Moffat Kangi, John Ole Moyaki, Ibrahim Guyo, Richard Kirundi, Elizabeth Mueni, Roseline Odede, Joash Dache, Doreen Muthaura, and Albert Mwenda.

Others include Stephen Kayongo, Jafaar Mohamed, Sammy Chepkwony, Khadija Mire, Hassan Sheikh Mohamed, Capt. (Ret.) Simiyu Werunga, Mutuma Ruteere, Anne Ireri, and Anne Ireri.
