Cabinet Secretaries (CSs) have contributed Kes 1.2 million towards the funeral arrangements for former Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha.
Information, Communication and Digital Economy CS Eliud Owalo confirmed that the amount was the individual contribution from the CSs.
He was speaking while delivering the CS's contribution to the former CS's family at his Lavington residence.
Further, Owalo promised that the state would be close to family during this difficult time and ensure the smooth running of logistics.
Owalo added that the government would provide logistical support for the procession to take place on February 8 2023, and airlift the former CS's body to Yala as promised.
The CS also confirmed that the government promised food support was ongoing as of February 6.
Additionally, the CS noted that William Ruto's government is available and ready to support the family during mourning and after.
On his part, Gem Constituency Member of Parliament, Elisha Odhiambo, thanked the government for the support accorded to his constituents.
He said they want to give the late Professor a befitting send-off that reflects the people of Gem who are unbeatable in education.
The farewell caravan of the late Professor George Magoha will move to the Lee Funeral Home.
After that, the caravan will proceed to various places that define the late Professor, allowing
dignitaries and Kenyans to pay tribute to him.
The place includes the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council Headquarters, University of Nairobi – College of Health Sciences, Nigerian High Commission, St Georges Primary School, Kenya National Examination Council offices along Dennis Pritt Road, Starehe Boys Center and State House Girls High School.
Prof. Magoha will rest at his home in Umiru, Nyamnina, on Saturday, February 11, 2023.
