Tensions between Rwanda and congo have reached a boiling point. On the 16th of February, Rwanda accused Congolese troops of attacking their border post. Rwanda's military said its troops briefly exchanged gunfire with soldiers from the Democratic Republic of Congo at a border post.
On Wednesday, Rwanda issued a statement saying that over 12 Congolese soldiers entered the neutral zone and opened fire on the Rwandan troops. kinsasha, on the hand, has denied claims that its soldiers shot at Rwandan troops saying that the clash was between its soldiers and bandits near the border in Bukavu
This incident happened barely a month after Rwanda shot at a congo fighter jet that they claimed was invading its air space. DRC described the incident as aggression that equals an act of war.
The democratic republic of congo is accusing Rwanda of financially supporting the m23 group and its operations. This claim is backed by the international community and western countries who have asked Rwanda to stop funding the rebels.
On the other side, Rwanda has denied these claims, saying they play no part in the conflict in DRC. Rwanda is accusing the DRC of trying to back out of the Luanda peace summit deal.
The northeastern part of congo has been in conflict for decades, and many African leaders are trying to find a lasting solution to the violence in the DRC
