According to gospel singer Ruth Matete, the last few years of her life have not been easy. This is based on the experiences she has had since the death of her spouse.
Matete reflected on how she was emotionally harmed by the charges of killing her husband after only four months of marriage in a lengthy Facebook post. Ruth confesses that she was two months pregnant at the time of his passing.

Ruth remarked that mourning the loss of someone you adore takes time, especially if they were your spouse. According to Matete, with today's busy lifestyle, it's possible to get so busy that you either forget to heal or believe you have healed when, in reality, you're simply too busy to assess your emotional health.
At first, the singer was suspected of murdering her husband by family, friends, and even social media users. Matete made a suggestion that some of her friends had grown apart from her as a result of her popularity.
After a gas explosion happened in their home, her husband John died from his wounds. Government pathologist Johansen Oduor claimed this.
She was unable to bury her husband, however, until the Nigerian embassy determined the precise reason for his demise. As Ruth's family wanted John to be buried but the embassy insisted that his body be kept at the mortuary for over three months before they would let her ultimately bury her husband, this led to a lot of conflict between Ruth's family and the embassy.
Ruth has overcome all of these obstacles and has continued to stand strong. Despite everything she has been through and all the difficulties she has encountered, Ruth can still smile.
She returned to social media after burying her husband, and in an interview with True Love magazine, she discussed how most of her friends abandoned her just as she needed them the most. Her friends never phoned to see how she was doing, and some of her colleague preachers used to make "prophecies" about her.
