Joyce Naserian, imprisoned for a minor offence after being detained by city askaris, is now accessible thanks to the help of Kenyans and comedian Eric Omondi.

After being accused of loitering, Naserian was imprisoned in the Lang'ata Women's Prison for failing to pay an Sh10,000 fine.

Omondi claimed that she would serve three months in jail.


"Joyce Naserian has been freed from Langata Women Prison. She was sentenced to serve three months in prison for a minor offense, but after paying a Ksh 10,000 fine, she was allowed to return to her children. Nicole was also freed by us. I appreciate you coming through and giving her a job, @bernicesaroni. God's grace. Today, we also release Naomi," stated Eric Omondi.

Over the weekend, Omondi posted a video of Niserian explaining how she came to be detained by law enforcement.

In recent years, Omondi has emerged as a human rights activist and has been one of the protest leaders pushing President William Ruto's administration to cut living expenses.


"I was taken to court and asked to pay an Sh10,000 fine after the police asked me for Sh5000 at the police station, but I didn't have it. I was transferred to Lang'ata Women's Prison because I could not obtain the necessary funds, according to Joyce Naserian.
