Elgeyo Marakwet has launched a head count exercise for its staff to root out ghost workers in the County.
Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Wesley Rotichhas urged all employees, both at the headquarters and in the sub-counties, to participate in the exercise to ensure that all data is captured.
Rotich has noted that the head count began on Monday 13 and is being conducted by the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM)
The one-week-long staff headcount to facilitate staff rationalization for effective service delivery to residents in the County.
The audit aims to align staff as per their requisite qualifications, update staff records, and determine gaps in skills and training needs and those eligible for promotion and re-designation.

Rotich has encouraged the county staff to participate in the exercise and take it positively stating that it is not a witch hunt.
The findings of the audit will be used to make recommendations to the Governor and his team for implementation.
On his part, IHRM Team Leader Wycliffe Nyakina pledged to undertake a professional exercise devoid of any ill will.
He added that they would lay bare the facts as presented by staff in their final report.
The exercise is mandatory for all staff, and the IHRM team will require workers to avail themselves of documents to ascertain their positions.
