Senator Samson Cherargei says President William Ruto's message to the Leader of the opposition Raila Odinga ought not to be perceived as a handshake.

Raila and Azimio's only option, according to the Nandi Senator, is to take their grievances to Parliament.

"There will be no handshakes or hand-cheques. No way, mkate! Ruto's message is straightforward: there are numerous avenues through which the opposition/Azimio-OKA can raise their concerns, including Parliament, but they must be legal and constitutional "Cherargei explained.

President William Ruto had extended an olive branch to Raila, proposing a bipartisan parliamentary process for appointing Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission commissioners.

"Our position is that we would like to involve our brothers and sisters on the other side on issues that matter to Kenyans," said Ruto.

Raila has postponed Monday's nationwide protests and issued a list of conditions, even as he gets ready to meet with President Ruto.

The Senator has been outspoken in opposing talks between his party's Leader, President Ruto, and Raila. The lawmaker claimed last month that the Azimio la Umoja One coalition is the forerunner of lawlessness.

"There is no space for dialogue between Azimio-Oka and President William Ruto because they are the architects of economic sabotage, anarchy, and lawlessness," Cherargei declared.

In addition, the UDA senator insisted that President William Ruto could not be blackmailed.

Nothing from the Raila Odinga-led coalition, Cherargei said, would prevent Ruto from fixing the country.
