Following a road accident on Sunday evening, nine people were admitted to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH).

A public service vehicle(PSV) and a saloon car were involved in the accident near Kisumu International Hospital.

The two vehicles collided head-on, according to Nyanza Regional traffic boss Joseph Nganga.


In other news, In the United States state of New York, a patient was apprehended after stealing the ambulance which had taken him to the hospital.

As reported by the Associated Press, the 47-year-old guy was taken to a Manhattan hospital for assessment on Thursday.

The man's ambulance was said to be parked outside the hospital unlocked, unoccupied, and with the keys in the ignition, he drove away from the medical facility shortly before 5 a.m.


The man drove away and had travelled 40 kilometres when police used GPS to track it down and try to stop it, but the driver refused to stop.

The vehicle was eventually stopped when police installed a tire-spiking device, which caused the ambulance's tires to deflate after the man attempted to drive past it.

He was arrested on a variety of charges, including grand theft, criminal being in possession of stolen goods, unlawfully escaping a police officer in a motor vehicle, and driving while intoxicated.
