Before starting a discussion, Senator Samson Cherargei has urged Azimio leader Raila Odinga to acknowledge the current administration as lawfully elected.

Cherargei argued that it was improper for Raila to make an effort to communicate with President William Ruto's administration while continuing to decry the Kenya Kwanza government as needing to be more effective.

In an interview with K24 on Tuesday, Cherargei stated, "Raila Odinga wants to discuss or wants a bipartisan approach with the administration but he still thinks that the government in existence is illegitimate."

"He must acknowledge the legitimacy of President William Ruto's administration before pursuing any other viewpoint in terms of a bipartisan strategy," said the statement.

He said that instead of asserting that other Kenyans must be involved without naming them, Raila needs to use established mechanisms, including Parliament, to progress negotiations or requests.

"Who are these Kenyans when they refer to them as such? Martha Karua, perhaps? Is Jeremiah Kioni there? Who? Who are these Kenyans who can bargain on behalf of the other Kenyans? He posed the question.

As a cross-section of Kenyans personally elected me, this is a better representation than lawmakers. Who, whether a senator, an MCA, a governor, or a member of the National Assembly, is a more assertive negotiator than a member of Parliament?

The Azimio coalition, according to Raila, needs to recognize William Ruto as having been duly elected as president.

During one of the demonstrations in Nairobi, Raila declared, "We do not recognize the Kenya Kwanza administration as a legal government and Ruto as the president or any person in his government."
