Azimio leader Raila Odinga has condoled families and friends who have lost their loved ones following an accident in Migori.
In a statement, Raila prayed that God will grant the families strength to overcome difficult times.
"I offer my deepest sympathies to all those who have lost their loved ones, friends, and colleagues in the tragic accident that occurred this morning at the boda boda stage in Migori town. May God grant you all fortitude to get through this difficult moment. Poleni kwa msiba." he said.
The morning accident in Migori has reportedly claimed six lives and left several others with nursing injuries.
About six people have died after a truck driver lost control and rammed into motorbikes and vehicles in Migori town on Saturday morning.
Several other boda-boda operators are still trapped in the wreckage.
According to Nyanza police boss Manasse Musyoka, police have joined the rescue mission and taken some injured riders to hospitals.
“We understand a driver or some lorry lost its control and ploughed into a crowd. Very unfortunate,” he said.
On his part, Migori county commander Mark Wanjala said the accident happened at Kakrao centre, about five kilometres from Migori town.
"Six people died on the spot while the seventh just died at Migori Referral Hospital where those hurt have been receiving treatment," Wanjala said.
He added that three are in critical condition, with witnesses saying the driver also died on the spot.
Further, Wanjala said they had alerted divers and local communities downstream to help locate those bodies.
At the time of the accident, 15 motorbikes had been parked by the roadside.
