Georgina Osoro, a Maseno Police Station officer, sent a letter to Inspector General Japhet Koome, claiming that she is being unfairly accused of killing a university student during last month's Azimio la Umoja One Kenya mass rallies.
On March 20, 2023, the officer was accused of shooting and murdering third-year Maseno University student Wiliam Mayange amid anti-government protests.
Corporal Osoro requests that the IG provide her with information on her duty from March 19 to 22, 2023, the timeframe of the protests, so that she can initiate legal action against her accusers.
She maintains that on the day the student was killed, she was on duty in Kisumu, around 35 km from Maseno town.
Corporal Osoro says that public members have attacked her due to the event, and she has concerns for her life since she and her children have reportedly been threatened.

She also wants the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) and the National Police Service (NPS) Internal Affairs Department to investigate the incident as soon as possible and consider all exculpatory evidence to inform the general public that she was not involved in the fatal shooting.
At least three people died during the anti-government azimio protests that destroyed hundreds of properties. Raila odinga has promised to go to the streets if the bipartisan talks with the kenya kwanza government do not work.
Both azimio la Umoja coalition and kenya kwanza have both selected members from their parties to represent them in the talks about issues like the cost of living and the selection process for IEBC.
