In Kimilili, Bungoma County, three individuals have been arrested for allegedly assaulting and killing a military medical officer stationed at the Moi Air Base barracks.
The incident was confirmed by Mwita Marwa, the OCPD of Kimilili Police Station, who stated that a scuffle broke out between the officer, identified as Edward Barasa, and a group of disorderly young people he was drinking with at a chang'aa den in Maeni village.
The youth group is said to have attacked the military officer with punches and kicks, after which one of them hit him on the head with a wooden stick. Barasa is said to have succumbed to his injuries before arriving at the Kimilili sub-county hospital, where he was being rushed for medical attention as he had deep cuts on his head and left hand.
Mr Marwa has cautioned individuals against taking the law into their own hands, emphasizing that police officers are already conducting investigations to bring the perpetrators to justice.
