The warring parties in Sudan have been urged to immediately halt hostilities by the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD).

In order to end the conflict and bring peace back to the nation, President William Ruto urged IGAD officials to adopt a strong stance.

The President discussed the deteriorating security in Sudan on Sunday during a virtual meeting with IGAD Heads of State.

Presidents Salva Kiir of South Sudan, Yoweri Museveni of Uganda, Ismail Omar Guelleh of Djibouti, and Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of Somalia also attended the emergency meeting.

The leaders demanded that Generals Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo of the Transitional Sovereign Council put an end to the fighting and go back to the negotiating table.
