Former Mukurwe-ini MP Kabando wa Kabando has called upon former President Uhuru Kenyatta to distance himself from the ongoing clashes in the Jubilee party.

Speaking on his Twitter, Kabando acknowledged Uhuru's role in the democratic governance transition after the August 2022 elections.

Further, he noted that it had earned him honour, urging him to stop now debasing himself by getting involved in the Jubilee wrangles.

This follows Uhuru's visit to the Jubilee Headquarters in Kileleshwa on Wednesday, shortly after supporters of Kanini Kega and Jeremiah Kioni clashed.

The commotion was characterised by stone pelting, which led to heavy police deployment.

The officers had to use teargas to disperse the supporters.

Kioni's supporters were trying to force their entry into the Jubilee headquarters but were blocked.

Uhuru said he visited the offices after receiving a call from Kioni; he came out to defend the Jubilee Party amid ongoing wrangles.

He has called upon the Kenya Kwanza government to respect and leave the Jubilee Party alone, just as he has respected that they are in power.

"When Kenyans made a decision last year, as leaders who were in power then, accepted that decision, move on and handed over power, we also want them to respect our rights as members of our party," he said.
