According to the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) 2023 Economic Survey report, the number of men who have had sterilization vasectomy has more than doubled in just one year.
Vasectomy is a medical operation that permanently prevents conception by cutting or shutting the sperm tubes.
According to the survey, the number of males who selected vasectomy jumped to 557 from 248 the previous year, which analyzed the use of modern contraceptives in health institutions from 2018 to 2022.
According to the report, 334 males underwent vasectomy surgeries in 2020, a substantial fall from 658 in 2018 and 646 in 2018.

Some of the benefits of getting a vasectomy include:
Highly effective: Vasectomy is more than 99% effective in preventing pregnancy. Once the procedure is done, you don't need to worry about birth control.
Permanent: Vasectomy is a more permanent method of birth control. Unlike other methods like condoms or birth control pills, you don't have to use them every time.
Cost-effective: Although the initial cost of a vasectomy may seem expensive, it is a one-time cost that is usually less expensive over time than other birth control methods. Does not affect sexual performance: A vasectomy does not involve a man's ability to have sex or enjoy it. It simply prevents the release of sperm during ejaculation.
Health benefits: Vasectomy does not increase the risk of prostate cancer, and some studies show that it may even reduce the risk of prostate cancer.
Does not affect hormone levels: Vasectomy does not affect hormone production, so there are no changes in sex drive, muscle mass or energy levels.
