RAINThe Kenya Railways Corporation (KRC) has halted trips on its Meter Grade Railway (MGR) service between Nakuru and Kisumu.

KRC stated on Thursday that the suspension was imposed owing to severe rainfall across the country.

"As a result, we have suspended the Kisumu Safari train services on Friday, May 5 and Sunday, May 7," according to a portion of the message.

However, the rail service provider assured its customers that efforts are underway to restore track and that communication will be made once clearance is granted.

"We apologize deeply for any inconveniences this has caused."

According to a police complaint, devastating flood waves washed away the base of one of the railway bridge's supports in Kibigori.

According to the article, the earth beneath the bridge that supports the line has also caved in. The damage is a severe threat that necessitates immediate action to avert disaster.

The KRC metre gauge railway train operates to Kisumu for persons and commodities on Mondays and Fridays.
