Robert Alai, member of the county assembly for Kileleshwa, has criticized Kenyans who are currently raising funds for veteran artist Colonel Mustafa.

Multiple media outlets and publications have reported that veteran musician Colonel Mustafa has been going through a difficult period in his life. Recently, a video of him working at a construction site went viral online. In subsequent interviews, he shared that his life had taken a turn for the worse due to a lack of shows and performances, which were his primary sources of income.

Additionally, he mentioned that his finances had been depleted due to his mother's illness; she is currently receiving treatment for cancer.

In a post on his official Twitter handle, Robert Alai advised people to refrain from using money as the solution to every problem. Specifically, he urged those fundraising for Colonel Mustafa to take a step back and examine the reasons behind the musician's current difficulties.

Alai cited the example of comedian Omosh, for whom people raised funds, but ultimately, the situation did not improve. He argued that sometimes, throwing money at a problem can exacerbate the underlying issues if they are not thoroughly understood and addressed.

"Don’t throw money at every problem. Sit down and review why Col Moustapha is where he is. How many times have you guys given Omosh money and even a house? Has that been the solution? What’s happening with Col? Money becomes a catalyst for destruction when the root cause hasn’t been revised well," Alai raised questions on the issue.
