An enraged herd attacked a truck driver after he drove his vehicle into a pack of 69 cows, killing 13 of them instantaneously on Mombasa Road in Athi-River, Machakos County.

According to a police dispatch report from Athi River, the motorist was on his way to Nairobi when he hit the cows, killing 13 and injuring five more.

Nteneyio Ole Kasio, the cows' owner, told the media that he had just returned from a two-day journey with his cows in the Green Park area of East African Portland Cement in Athi-River after a challenging trek from Yatta when the vehicle killed 13 of his cows and injured five others.

"We took every precaution needed by sending two men to stand on the road with red clothes raised on sticks to stop oncoming cars," Kasio explained.


Kasio stated that other cars had stopped to allow the cows to cross on their way to Kajiado when the offending truck collided with them and caused the accident.

According to police, enraged public members attacked the driver, Joseph Mbai, inflicting significant injuries.

According to Athi River police, the motorist suffered injuries on his head and hands and was taken to a nearby hospital.

The livestock owner stated that all he wants is justice.
