Musalia Mudavadi, Prime Cabinet Secretary, has urged Kenyans to brace themselves for tougher economic times ahead and not expect the government to heal the economy quickly.
Mudavadi remarked after the burial of Mau Mau heroine Mukami Kimathi in Nyandarua that the cost of living reversal is not like "brewing an instant coffee," and that Kenyans should allow the government time to fix the economic hardship that many people are experiencing.
"It will be difficult to get our country back on track." I've said, and I'll say again, that restoring Kenya's economy isn't like making instant coffee in the morning. The revival of Kenya's economy will take time but require our unity."
The Prime Cabinet Secretary also slammed previous President Uhuru Kenyatta's government for wreaking havoc on the economy by overborrowing to pay off past debts, thus putting the country into debt repayment difficulty.

"We did not appear out of nowhere. We got into this mess because the previous administration borrowed foolishly and saddled Kenyans with the bill. "I said that overborrowing would put us in a hole, and I was ignored," Mudavadi claimed.
He also asked the opposition, led by Raila Odinga, to give the government time to implement its platform and refrain from criticizing for the sake of criticizing.
"It's time to band together and work together to reduce the cost of living for all Kenyans." We cannot be in the same boat. We must criticise and correct each other, but let us do it from a position of truth and not a position of just politicking,” added the Prime CS.
Mudavadi's words come at a time when most Kenyans are battling with the high cost of life caused by the protracted drought and dollar shortage, making commodity importation difficult.
