Five people were killed, and eight others were critically injured when a matatu from Eldoret to Nairobi lost control and overturned along the Nakuru-Eldoret highway in Sachangwan.
According to Molo Police Commander Mwenda Muthamia, four males and one lady perished on the scene in the Saturday night tragedy, while the other eight were critically injured.
Survivors are being treated at Molo Hospital, while the bodies of the deceased are being held at the hospital mortuary.
The car was escorted to the Molo police station.

in other news, On Sunday night, two persons were killed in an accident involving a matatu and a motorcycle in Sagana.
The accident happened around 7 p.m. along the Sagana-Karatina road, according to Kirinyaga West sub-county police commander Wilson Koskei.
According to Koskei, the motorbike was going towards Sagana when it lost control and collided with the matatu, hurting the rider and pillion passengers.
While the two were pronounced dead on arrival at Sagana sub-county hospital, there was uproar inside.
Angry people stormed the premises, railing against what they saw as terrible administration.
Residents living along the busy Makutano-sagana-Karatina highway, which is now under construction, have expressed concern that the road may take more lives if hazards are not addressed quickly.
The motorcycle and matatu involved in the crash were transferred to the Sagana police station for assessment.
