They were reportedly armed with machetes and other weapons, and upon accessing the house, they hit the guard who tried to stop on their way.
"We got the report at around 7 am. It is alleged that assailants who were in the company of a dog and armed with pangas (machetes) scaled over a fence housing the premises of Kasato Estates with three houses. One of the houses they targeted was for ASP Nampiima," Owoyesigire told journalists on Monday.
ASP Faridah Nampiima and her husband noticed a ruckus inside the house while the sad incident was taking place outside and tried to flee. Thugs, who were waiting for them at the door and forced them back inside the house, stole their goods, including cash, a television, and mobile phones.
"According to our recorded statement, the officer and the husband heard screams outside. While they were opening the door to investigate, the assailants forcefully pushed themselves inside the house before they started demanding money and other items," ASP Owoyesigyire explained.
