Police in Narok's Transmara district is looking into a senior government official who was caught on tape using the name of a terrorist organization to intimidate locals in a private disagreement.

Transmara South Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) Abdihakim Mohamud Jubat is seen harassing people of Olempongiot village in Transmara East in the video, which has since gone viral.

"Kitu mimi nakudhibitishia, Leo mimi na kundi langu tutakuja kulala hapa...al shabaab itakuwa hapa...italipuka," Jubat explained in the video. The event occurred after the Environment and Lands Court in Kilgoris ruled that the title document to a 43-acre plot of land that the DCC claimed to have purchased from the family of James Laton Konchellah in 2013 was declared null and void.

The court determined that Jubat's land purchase was illegal and irregular. Jubat, on the other hand, claims to have challenged the ruling. "The court ruled that this land belongs to us, and after waiting for an appeal from Jubat for 14 days, we decided to occupy this land, and then the DCC later came here with the police and started threatening us," said Emmanuel Laton, a member of the family as mentioned earlier.

Laton's family requests that the government prosecute the deputy county commissioner. "The government should step in immediately because the DCC used a known terrorist to threaten us," Sampayon Laton remarked. The contested plot of land has been under police monitoring, with officers patrolling the area acting on Jubat's orders.

A local media contacted DCC Jubat, who declined to comment, urging our team to examine cops involved in the issue. The government is aware of the situation, according to Narok County Commissioner Isaac Masinde, and relevant security authorities are handling it. He, too, urged both parties to keep the peace, but the question of how a DCC can use the name of a terror group to frighten Kenyans would require answers from authorities.
