The Canadian government has distanced itself from recent reports regarding an employment deal with Kenya that would allow Kenyans to travel to the North American country.

The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) labelled the earlier communication by Kenya’s Ministry of Affairs Minister, Alfred Mutua, as “false.”

“Disinformation is circulating, suggesting that special programs are welcoming Kenyan immigrants. This is false, and the immigration programs referenced do not exist.”

In a statement, the IRCC stated that IRCC urged Kenyans and individuals who intend to move to Canada to obtain accurate information by visiting the official IRCC website.

On Tuesday, Mutua claimed that the Kenyan government had agreed with Canada to provide job opportunities for Kenyans.

During an official visit to Canada, the Foreign and Diaspora Cabinet Secretary announced the news on his Twitter handle.

Mutua claimed that he had had discussions with his Canadian counterpart regarding work opportunities for Kenyans in the country.
