Tensions are high in the Loruk district of Baringo North after bandits raided, shooting, and critically injuring one individual.

Over 300 cows were driven away from Tiaty's Paka Hills.

The heavily armed criminals struck around 12 p.m. on Wednesday while the cows were grazing. They began shooting indiscriminately, causing herders to flee.

Police who confronted the thieves in a gun battle were defeated as the criminals fled with the booty.

Because of the raid, inhabitants of Tiaty in Loruk have been compelled to close their businesses for fear of retaliation.

The raid follows five days of prayers organized by first lady Rachel Ruto to intercede for the restoration of peace in six counties designated as troubled and hazardous.

Interior CS Kithure Kindiki is expected to lead a procession of around 200 police reservists in training for the past two weeks.
