Cooperatives and MSMEs Cabinet Secretary Simon Chelugui has said that by midnight December 5, borrowers had repaid Kes 281 million of the Hustler Fund.
Chelugui has also confirmed that the amount disbursed had crossed the Kes 4 billion mark earlier in the day and now stands at Kes 4.6 billion.
Further, the number of Kenyans who have registered with the Hustler Fund has also risen to 12 million.
Chelugui said this indicated the growing enthusiasm that welcomed the launch of the financial inclusion initiative last week.
The CS says the growth is attributed to more than 281,000 repeat borrowers having been captured by the fund's digital lenders in the same period.
Additionally, total transactions stood at Kes 8 million as of midnight.
The Hustler Fund can be accessed through a USSD code *254# and mobile application platforms provided by any of the existing mobile network operators.
