Officers from the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) detained a rogue Embassava Sacco conductor on Outering Road in Nairobi on Friday after he allegedly tossed a passenger out of a moving bus.

The passenger, a 17-year-old male, is claimed to have perished on the scene.

"Dennis Mageto Ombichi was booked at Capital Hill Police Station under O.B 12/19/05/2023 for the offence of failing to provide due care to passengers aboard a PSV Vehicle."

CS Murkomen expressed his condolences for the deceased, assuring his family that the suspect would face the full force of the law.

"Following the unfortunate incident that resulted in the death of a passenger onboard an Embasava Sacco vehicle, the conductor who was at large was apprehended by NTSA and handed over to the police," Murkomen said in a statement on Friday.

The incident happened on Wednesday evening in Pipeline, Embakasi East Constituency; witnesses stated the conductor forced the adolescent out of the moving bus, which subsequently ran over him.

The deceased, whose brother accompanied him, is believed to have failed to pay his bus fee of Ksh.20.

A scuffle occurred, and the conductor allegedly threw him out of the bus, resulting in his death.

Passers-by and onlookers rushed to the scene, baying for the conductor's blood and setting fire to the bus; however, the conductor managed to elude the enraged mob and flee.

Management at Embassava Sacco denied that the youngster was pushed, claiming that he fell by mistake.
