Luciano Spalletti, the coach of Napoli, announced his choice for his future with the Serie A champions on Sunday after a 3-1 home victory over Inter Milan.

He also informed reporters that any subsequent achievements following Napoli's first Scudetto in almost 30 years would be eclipsed and regarded as less meaningful.

Despite leading Napoli to the title and the Champions League quarter-finals, the Italian coach's future has been discussed in recent weeks.

"The matter has been decided, you don't change your mind every day," Spalletti stated at the post-match press conference.

"This incidentt has been brewing for quite some time." When you work from daylight to night, some things mature in your mind because you must always put on this show.

"If you aren't convinced that you can give these people everything they deserve, you should reconsider." You think about it, decide, and then stick to it."

Spalletti stated that he discussed the situation with club President Aurelio De Laurentiis and that they had agreed.

"All that is needed is that it be announced. I said what I ought to say to De Laurentiis. There were no bargaining. We came from that dinner together with everything figured out."

Spalletti hailed his team for defeating all 19 Serie A teams in a single season for the first time.

"The quality of our football is what allowed us to stand out," he explained. "It was motivating for the players because they were up against a deserving Champions League finalist and had to prove everything we'd accomplished all season."

In the Champions League final, Inter will face Manchester City.
