Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has warned former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga not to attempt to resurrect the dreaded sect.
Gachagua stated at a church service conducted at AIPCA Town Cathedral Thika in Kiambu County on Sunday, May 28, that the government would use all available resources to prevent the rebirth of the violent gang.
He singled out Njenga in particular, accusing him of using the kids to gain himself through their businesses. Gachagua alluded to Njenga's opulent lifestyle, citing the nine luxury residences he supposedly built across the country.
"A few people are taking advantage of young people." That sect leader is where the money was collected, so take it to him. The vice president stated that he has nine opulent residences in Lavington, Kitengela, and Nyahururu," the vice president said.

Gachagua sent a message to the youth, warning them not to be deceived into partaking in such acts because the government would not tolerate them. He underscored the government's seriousness in responding.
The Deputy President urged parents, religious leaders, and elders to guide Mt Kenya's youth to avoid becoming associated with the group. He addressed the public's concerns about the gang's resurgence and assured them that the government would not allow the criminal organization to return.
"I implore church leaders and elders to speak to our children." That guy who is reviving that gang is putting our children in danger. Because the government would not allow it, I would like to invite parents to talk to their children about not allowing them to be exploited to cause trouble," Gachagua said.
In an open challenge to the sect's organizers, Gachagua asked why they couldn't involve their children instead of exploiting the youth.
Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi agreed with Gachagua and asked parents to keep their kids away from the group.
On Wednesday, May 24, the former Mungiki leader was charged in a Nakuru court when a scuffle erupted between his lawyer, Ndegwa Njiru, and the police.
According to a DCI statement, Njenga was arrested after discovering two firearms and a considerable amount of cannabis (bhang) at a property associated with him.
The raid, which took place in Ngomongo village, Dundori ward, resulted in the arrest of eight individuals aged 37 to 54.
They seized two firearms besides the suspects, including a handmade handgun capable of firing and a Tokarev pistol with a defaced serial number.
