In a press conference, the Azimio la Umoja coalition says that its members of parliament will vote to oppose the finance bill 2023.

The coalition asked the government to remove the Finance Bill and reintroduce it in a way that addresses Kenyans' interests, according to a statement issued by National Assembly Minority Whip Opiyo Wandayi.

Wandayi explained that they have agreed that MPs will sign a public pledge as a commitment until the Bill is withdrawn.

The meeting on Tuesday brought together MPs, coalition leaders, and representatives from the Azimio bipartisan negotiations.

The discussion focused on three major issues: the organization of Azimio minority leaders, the Finance Bill 2023, and the state of bipartisan negotiations.

The alliance, which claimed 130 MPs attended the conference, stated they will oppose the Finance Bill 2023 because it puts Kenyans back to the 1980s.

The National Assembly Minority Whip said that they completely oppose the Bill. He added that they do not believe this is a bill from the government, and they do not believe it is a bill from anyone in this country.

The azimio la Umoja coalition described the Bill as antiquated and intended to overtax Kenyans without providing anything in return.
