Noordin Haji, the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), has requested that Paul Mackenzie's custody hearing be moved to Friday or a later date.

The request was made for various reasons, including the prosecution counsel's ill health, according to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).

"The Prosecution Counsel has been and will continue to be on bed rest due to Dengue fever."

The ODPP further indicated that the defence could not meet with their clients due to Interior Cabinet Kithure Kindiki's recent visit to Shakahola.

"Due to a visit by the Honourable Cabinet Secretary In-Charge of Interior Affairs, the Defence Counsel were unable to meet their clients today as previously scheduled." "The security escort services between Kilifi, where some of the respondents are held, and Malindi were untenable," read the appeal prepared on behalf of the DPP by Senior Principal Prosecution Counsel Alexander Jami Yamina.

Mackenzie and 17 others were to be held until Wednesday for their lawyers to reply to the prosecution's request that the accused be held for an additional 60 days.
