According to a statement by the Kenya Airports Authority(KAA), a light aircraft was on Thursday night forced to make an emergency landing at the Kisumu International Airport after developing mechanical problems.

The Authority says the aircraft was said to have suffered a landing gear failure with two occupants inside; a trainee pilot and an instructor.

However, KAA has confirmed that the occupants are safe since they were rushed to the hospital for a precautionary medical assessment.

The aircraft was said to have landed with a thud and went around in circles for hours within the airport.

As it was still going around the airport, security teams had already positioned themselves and were ready to take the necessary measurements.

The incident comes a few days after KAA also reported an incident at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport involving a plane that crashed during a drill.
