Kithure Kindiki, Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration has advised Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition MPs to refrain from protesting the Finance Bill, 2023.

Speaking at a church service in Tharaka Nithi on Sunday, the minister asked MPs to debate their views on the bill in Parliament and refrain from protests, noting that they aimed to destroy property and disrupt commercial activities in Nairobi.

CS kindiki said that they would not allow any individual claiming to be outraged by specific policies in the country to disrupt others' businesses and endanger others' lives through Maandamano. he said that he is aware that the MPs have an approaching Finance measure on their agenda. He urges them to examine it in Parliament.

The interior minister's remarks came after Azimio la Umoja leaders promised to resume protests if Parliament passes the Finance Bill in Bungoma on Saturday.

Opposition leader Raila Odinga dismissed the bill's ideas, claiming they would harm Kenya's economy and burden the country's taxed taxpayers.

However, the CS has warned leaders who urge the public to vandalize people's property during rallies, adding that the government will not tolerate such demonstrations.

However, he allowed individuals to hold peaceful protests, emphasizing that this is a right guaranteed by Kenya's constitution.

The interior cabinet secretary said that If people choose to conduct a peaceful demonstration expressing their grievances through banners and posters, that will be permitted because it stays within the bounds of the law.

The minister also addressed cases of banditry in Tharaka Nithi, adding that the government will deploy an Anti-Stock Theft Unit in the county within one month to combat cattle rustling and terrorism.
