Nairobi's senator Edwin sifuna criticized the rutos government during the azimios rally in kamukunji, saying that the government promised to give Kenyans fish but ended up giving them snakes instead.

During the azimios rally today at kamukuji grounds, he criticized the recently released hustler funds, saying only a fraction of Kenyans have received the funds disputing the government's claim that hundreds of Kenyans have already benefited from the funds.

Sifuna said that ruto had promised a grant without interest while the hustler fund charges an 8% interest per year.

"The Hustler Fund is not what Kenyans were promised during campaigns, they were promised a grant where it would not be subject to any interest but what was launched on Wednesday is essentially a government-run Fuliza," sifuna said on Citizen TV.

"We expected that there would be a supplementary appropriation for the Hustler Fund, the source of fund is problematic." sifuna

Hustler funds were launched last week by president William ruto to fulfil a commitment he made to help Kenyans have easy access to affordable credit for their businesses.

Sifuna had urged Kenyans to refrain from repaying the funds borrowed. In a statement, he said, "Help Ruto keep his promises. Convert that loan into the grant he promised. He will do you nothing. Happy Sabbath,"

Deputy president gachagua was not a fan of sifunas remarks. He responded, "I have seen an Azimio Senator in Nairobi telling people to default the loans. What kind of wisdom is that?

"If you see a leader rising to tell people to default on loans, that is not leadership. That is the kind of retrogressive politics that made us win against Azimio," remarked Gachagua.

Azimios' peaceful public consultative meeting is going on at the kamukunji grounds, and many opposition leaders have spoken against the repayment of the hustler funds.
