Roads and Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen believes he can organise a meeting between President William Ruto and opposition leader Raila Odinga to agree on the proposed Finance Bill 2023 if both parties agree.
Murkomen stated on Monday at the Kabunde airfield in Homa Bay County that President Ruto and Mr Odinga have previously worked together and that there should be no reason they cannot restore that friendship.
According to the CS, the Head of State learned the political ropes from the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya chief, and his elevation to the country's top seat is also a testimonial to the opposition leader's political prowess. Thus they should consult each other on a wide array of issues touching on national development.

"I don't see why Baba na President Ruto shouldn't consult more, kwa sababu William Ruto alikuwa kwa Raila Odinga academy." "Every teacher's dream is for his student to outperform him," he remarked.
"If you see William Ruto standing tall, he's standing on the shoulders of Raila Odinga, a giant." Our country cannot prosper in building itself if we attack each other. "Hiyo kitu yenye Baba anataka kumwambia Ruto, wakubaliane wakutane mahali, mimi naweza panga, alafu tuongee," says the president.
CS Murkomen continued to rally support for the contentious Finance Bill, 2023, pushing Azimio leadership to do the same.
He noted that most of Finance Bill's measures, including the housing fee, were in Mr Odinga's and President Ruto's campaign manifestos, thus opposing it now probably only smells of malice.
"Mimi nilikuwa mtu wa mkono wa Baba (Mr. Odinga), there is no reason why we cannot work together as leaders." Let me say this, ukiona ile mapendekezo mingi iko kwa Finance Bill, kwanza hiyo ya housing, hiyo pendekezo alichukua kutoka kwa Baba," he added.
"The manifesto ya ODM na UDA kwa mambo ya housing ni the same, ata percentage ni the same... ile tu sasa mmoja aliingia, mwingine ataingia baadaye."
