Police are investigating a suicide case in Uriri, Migori County after a man set himself on fire after his wife allegedly refused to cook chicken at home.
According to Nyaobe Assistant Chief John Atonya, the 45-year-old barricaded himself in their house before setting himself on fire.
"John Rugala, the man, locked himself inside the house before torching it." Atonya said the wife "refused to cook chicken for him."

According to the neighbours' reports, the wife opposed the plan because the chicken belonged to their daughter.
"He protested after his wife urged him to get permission from his daughter, who owns the chicken," the administrator explained.
Before killing himself, the deceased allegedly sent his wife away. Members of the public hurried to the scene in an attempt to extinguish the fire, but their efforts were in vain.
According to Atonya, the deceased's body has been transported to the Migori Level Four Hospital mortuary for police investigations.
Authorities in the region have asked couples to seek therapy when they are undergoing marital problems.
